Fine Wines Below £10

This was a very difficult set to choose from with many very capable wines below £10. These bottles all make for beautiful gifts and you can have them shipped next day with a gift message for less than £16!

We've selected one Red, White and Rose for each category. You can view the bottles below the text.

First off we have the 'Running Duck Shiraz - 2019' Organic and Fairtrade. This wine has a rich dark colour with a smoky and vanilla nose. Dark fruit on the palate gives the wine an all-round juiciness. Oaky tannins impart a spicy finish with good structure. A very enjoyable, easy-drinking lighter red wine at a very fair price.

For the White wine we have selected the Leaping Hound 'Chenin Blanc/Viognier - 2020' White peach and hints of jasmine on the nose. On the palate it has tight, white, fleshy stone fruit and fresh apricot flavours that balances the sandy texture. Bright acidity and minerality helps to deliver a delicious flavoursome and characteristic wine. A well rated bottle for the price. Chenin and Viognier are both easy drinking grapes and this is a wine that is nicely packaged and tastes great - Perfect for gifting!

To complete our Trio of wines under £10 we have the 'Dom. D'Aula Cotes De Gascogne IGP - 2020' This Rosé wine, made from local grape varieties as well as better known Merlot, has aromas of redcurrant and red berries, lots of berry flavours and a nice citrussy kick. Drink on its own (it's ridiculously easy to enjoy!) or with tapas, salads and barbecues. A very enjoyable drink which has a beautiful Rose colour and looks great as a gift!

Fine Wines Below £15

As we move through to the £10-£15 price range we find three delicious wines that you can get delivered for less than £20 each. We can include a gift message on the box, in the box, as a gift label around the neck of the bottle or all three. We only have limited space on each of these options so it is best to keep it short and sweet!

We kick off with one of my favourite wines from last year - The 'Otello, Malbec - 2020' this is a tall and good looking bottle which is well matched with its Fruity, brambly and supple flavour, this distinctly Argentinian malbec will impress with generous lashing of plum, blackberry and hints of vanilla spice. Smooth as you like and exceptional with red meats. A great gift!

Sauvignon Blanc is one of the UK's most drunk varieties and this 'Esk Valley, Sauvignon Blanc - 2021' is sure to impress as a gift. A mix of ripe tropical flavours Passion fruit and pea shoots mingle easily on the nose of this medium-bodied wine. This is a dry sauvignon with subtle herbaceousness. Pairs well with seafood, pizza and pasta, especially dishes with a touch of spice.

To conclude our wines below £15 we have an the 'Jules, Cote de Provence Rose - 2019' A beautiful peach colour, with a smart looking label and a taste to match. he nose is refined and aromatic, with aromas of white peach, citrus fruits and a touch of minerality. The palate is fruity and crunchy with great length. A well balanced Provence Rose, between roundness and freshness.

Fine Wines Below £20

We begin with the 'Chateau Lepine, Bordeaux Rouge - 2016' Easy drinking claret, unoaked with lots of fruity flavours and texture, without being overpowering. Wine of dark garnet colour with purple reflections. The aroma and taste are dominated by ripe black currants and plums. The wine has a fine tannin and a pleasant velvety finish. A great looking bottle of Bordeaux for a very reasonable price.

Next up is a very interesting bottle with a fun to say name. The 'Benevantano Falanghina - 2019' Aromatic jasmine & ripe melon lushness, mint/basil coolness, and a tufa mineral hint. A very special white wine. This wine has won IWSC, IWC and Decanter bronze awards in previous years. Very different looking with its short, stout bottle definitely a gift that should offer someone the chance to try something new, different and challenging to anyone who loves good white wine.

We haven't yet mentioned prosecco in this guide and we would be silly to miss it. A delightful tipple at Christmas, perfect for entertaining and delicious to enjoy. We recommend the ‘Barocco Millesimato DOC – 2020’ this light rose coloured fizz is sure to be enjoyed by all with its Delicate and complex bouquet with fruity notes of peach, green apple and lemon. Floral notes of acacia and rose. Fresh and light on the palate, with balanced acidity and body. Rounded and full-bodied structure. This is a gift that is a little safer than the first two bottles, but definitely no less enjoyable.

To begin we have the ‘Fenix Dombeya - 2017’, all the way from Haskell Vineyards in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Smooth and refined with bold flavours of rich fresh fruits and rose to a more serious tobacco, dark plum and blackcurrant leaf that lingers favourably in the aftertaste. Haskell wines are notoriously rare in the UK, and we believe we are possibly the only UK retailer to be selling this sensational wine this Christmas! Smooth as you like and exceptionally well rated this is a great gift for someone who really enjoys exceptional red wine!

We haven't mentioned Port yet and this is a great bottle which is sold along with its wooden display box. The 'Smith Woodhouse Madalena Vintage Port - 2013' port is not available through major retailers and is of exceptional quality, and is always very highly rated. With its deep ruby red colour this vintage port is full of rich blackberry and dark cherry fruit aromas and has excellent aged character. Just at the beginning of it's ageing it is already showing exceptional potential. Full bodied and fine with elegant tannins that will leave a long lingering finish on the palate. A great gift which will be surely enjoyed over many months or even years.

The wines below £30 wouldn't be complete without the renegade wine which blew us all away last year! Breaking all accepted norms of winemaking, blending five slightly obscure grape varieties together and producing an incredible wine which was rated 99/100 by renowned Italian wine expert Luca Maroni. ‘Edizione Cinque Autoctoni 20 – 2018’ from Fantini. Now in its 20th year of production this excellent Italian red is going from strength to strength. A deep ruby red wine with blackberry and cherry and an herbaceous minerality which is alluring as you sip, elements of cinnamon and cocoa help to round out the distinctive flavour. Velvety tannins are complemented by the savoury sweetness of the French oak all which leaves a long smooth fruity finish with elegant mouth feel. This is truly exceptional red wine and would suit any dinner table in the land this Christmas. A perfect way to thank someone for producing a fantastic roast, or for letting you stay - We recommend that you enjoy it with them though, this is one you don't want to miss!
